The CD, Blessed To Be American, is an expression of our love of country and family. From Jefferson to Lincoln, Wilson to Roosevelt, Kennedy to Bush: God has bestowed infinite grace on America's leaders. Our forefathers stood on foreign soil, searching for freedom and joyful life, not knowing where to find it. We are proud of our family heritage. Dr. Pickens and his family can trace their lineage to John Alden and Priscilla Mullens, passengers on the Mayflower in 1620 and to Roger Bigod, Surety for the Magna Carta in 1215. Dr. Pickens is related to The American Patriot, Nathan Hale and Abraham Pierson, the First President of Yale University. Dr. Pickens has continued the family tradition of duty and service to others with an outstanding career in medicine, always placing the welfare of his patients above all other considerations and adhering to the highest ethical standards demanded of his profession. These are the words of his brother-in-law: Bardin W. (Wayne) Dickson and beautifully express the opinions of all members of both our families.

Amber Le Prey

is the vocal talent for Blessed to be American. Amber worked in Nashville and wrote for Alabama's publishing office for three years while they funded her musical development. She worked with or associated with such artists as Diamond Rio, B.J. Thomas and Charlie Daniels. She worked as an assistant for Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Reba McIntire. Amber sings The National Anthem for Utah Jazz and other Professional Ball Clubs. She continues to write, sing and entertain audiences.

Sylvia Pickens

Sylvia Pickens has her B.A. in English from the University of Utah and M.B.A. from The University of Phoenix. She is a novelist, songwriter, publisher and producer. Following the tragedy of September 11 in New York City, Sylvia wrote "Blessed To Be American" to inspire patriotism and promote support of American patriots who are sacrificing to preserve America's freedom.

"Blessed To Be American" is dedicated to the memory of her nephew, Michael Brent Smith who gave so much to his family in spirit and love. He tragically died on April 11, 2002, following a long illness. God Bless his Soul.

Sylvia's second CD is dedicated to husbands and wives and other lover who are separated because of the call to duty by America At War. These songs include "Saturday's Love", "Soul Mate Lovers" and "Senses of Love".

Dorothy Smart

Dorothy Smart is the composer of Music for Blessed To Be American and Artist of Characters in the novel "The Sandpiper".
